Donor Guidelines

Follow these precautions to ensure a safe and smooth donation experience.

Before Donating

Stay Hydrated

Drink at least 2-3 extra glasses of water or juice before your donation. Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior.

Eat a Healthy Meal

Have a nutritious, iron-rich meal before donating. Avoid fatty foods as they can affect blood tests.

Get Enough Sleep

Make sure you have at least 7-8 hours of sleep the night before your donation appointment.

Check Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, weigh over 50 kg, and be in good general health to donate.

Avoid Certain Medications

Inform staff if you're on antibiotics or blood thinners. Some medications require a waiting period.

After Donating

Rest for 10-15 Minutes

Stay at the donation center briefly. Do not rush to stand up give your body time to adjust.

Drink Fluids

Replenish fluids by drinking extra water or juice. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours post-donation.

Eat a Snack

Have a light snack right after donating to help restore blood sugar levels and prevent dizziness.

Avoid Heavy Activity

Skip intense exercise or heavy lifting for the rest of the day. Light activity is fine.

Keep the Bandage On

Leave the bandage on for at least 4-5 hours to prevent bruising at the donation site.
